Union-Tribune workers give reluctant OK to new contract

Bylines reappeared in The San Diego Union and San Diego Tribune last week as the two local newspapers reported Guild Local 95 approval for a contract with management of the Union-Tribune Publishing Co.

The contract went into effect last Wednesday. Guild members had worked for the last two years without a contract or raise.

Only 305 of the Guild's 500 active members voted on the contract. The vote tally was 227-72 in favor of the contract.
