Flushing Meadows, NY (Sports Network) - Pete Sampras captured the U.S. Open for a fifth time and extended his own record of Grand Slam titles with a thrilling four-set win over Andre Agassi on Sunday.

Sampras fired 33 aces and earned a 6-3, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 win over his American rival to capture his unprecedented 14th Grand Slam title.

It was the third time Sampras beat Agassi in the final of the U.S. Open, with previous wins in 1990 and '95.
