NEW YORK--Prepaid wireless dropped 10 percent as a proportion of overall customers in the United States during the first half of this year, declining to 8 percent of the total base, said Susan Mazonson, president of Telecom Services.
"As bullish as we all are about wireless, which we have been following for nearly 20 years, and as excited as we are about the promise of prepaid to open new markets, this is the first time in three years it has dropped," she said at the Institute for International Research "Prepaid Markets Expo."
"We believe this is a short-term retrenchment for prepaid, as opposed to a setback"
