Animation is enjoying a revival on Saturday morning this fall, but I wouldn't exactly call it a cartoon comeback.
Cartoons once ruled Saturday mornings, because it was the time when kids ruled the TV. But kids now have their own cable channels that they watch every day, which has ruined the special nature of Saturday morning.
Even more damaging, when the bottom dropped out of the advertising market for toys a few years ago, networks stopped paying attention to their Saturday-morning programming because there was nothing in it to benefit their bottom line. NBC dropped cartoons entirely in favor of ...
