Sep. 8--The firing of a Wenatchee nursing-home worker for allegedly speaking Spanish in front of residents has placed the woman in the middle of a complex and growing cultural challenge in long-term care.
Maria Guerrero, who filed a discrimination complaint last month with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Seattle, says she is seeking justice for herself and friends who still work at Parkside Care Center, a skilled nursing facility with 100 residents.
