Sep. 10--Calling themselves the "Coalition for Fair News Coverage," about 100 people demonstrated in front of the Daily News building yesterday, urging fellow African-Americans to boycott the newspaper for what they characterized as its "racially insensitive" and "racially divisive" coverage.
Before the demonstration at Broad and Callowhill streets began, one of its keynote speakers, A. Bruce Crawley, chairman of the African-American Chamber of Commerce, said that two recent Daily News front pages clearly demonstrate the problem:
