Public Citizen Retracts Aetna L&C `Risk' Charge
WASHINGTON--Public Citizen has retracted its charge that Aetna Life & Casualty is "potentially at risk" of financial problems following a severe economic downturn.
At the same time, American International Group demanded a similar retraction from the Washington, D.C.-based Public Citizen.
During a press conference in New York, AIG Chairman Maurice R. Greenberg warned Public Citizen that it would face a lawsuit if it did not retract. Asked how long the company would be willing to wait for a retraction before taking that next step, Mr. Greenberg replied: "We're not very patient."
