OSD WILL SUPPORT AIR FORCE CAS/BAI F/A-16 REQUEST
The Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) will support the Air Force's desire to utilize an F-16 variant, the F/A-16, for the close air support (CAS)/battlefield air interdiction (BAI) mission, a senior Air Force official told Defense Daily in an interview Wednesday.
Following a Defense Acquisition Board (DAB) review last Monday, the official said, "I am confident that OSD will support the Air Force request."
The review had been put off on three separate occasions.
