KEIZER - To win 11 straight games in baseball, a team needs a mixture of strong play and luck - and sometimes it needs, well, divine intervention.
The Eugene Emeralds got a little of all three Monday in a 7-4 Northwest League win against Salem-Keizer at Volcanoes Stadium. Down 4-0 in the ninth inning, the Emeralds scored seven runs, batting 13 times in the rally, to extend their winning steak to 11, two short of the league record. And here's the divine intervention part: The Volcanoes had two strikes, with two outs, on seven straight batters in the last inning, but they couldn't record an out to end the game until the damage ...
