THERE are uncomfortable parallels between George W Bush's war against terrorism and the great Crusades against Islam launched by mediaeval Christendom 900 years ago.
Like Pope Urban II, who inspired the First Crusade in 1095, President Bush emphasises his campaign is to safeguard the interests and the values of the West.
But the President's real mission appears to be a repeat of that vindictive war Urban initiated against the religion which then, like now, threatened Christianity's world domination.
