JUNCTION CITY - Arlene Purdy watched her husband's mood grow sour and wanted to give him a hug.
Instead, serving as his caddie, all she could do was give Ted Purdy was his desired club and hope that the next shot would be the one to break him out of his slump.
That breakthrough shot never happened during Purdy's painful back nine Saturday that included a bogey and two double bogeys.
