Rodeo's New Faces
BEVERLY HILLS - Rodeo Drive has spawned The Ladies Who Retail, an ambitious group of women who have little or no retail experience, but who have either married or divorced well. As a result, they have been able to open designer boutiques on Rodeo in the pursuit not of fortune, but of fame.
Victoria Wyly gained national recognition with her Torie Steele designer boutiques in the mid-1980s and stole Lina Lee's thunder as the unofficial Queen of Rodeo Drive. Wyly's failing business and marriage caught up to her earlier this year, and she is now out of business.
Lee's business barely survived a divorce and a bankruptcy. The company ...
