WHAT IS IT?

SINUSITIS is the infection, blockage or inflammation of a series of air-filled spaces in the bones of the skull that open into the nose. One pair of sinuses lies in the cheeks and another in the forehead, but there are also a variable number of sinuses between the eyes and the nose.

While sinusitis can be a short illness which strikes during a cold, it can also be chronic, occurring due to long-term infection or an allergy such as hay fever.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS?

SYMPTOMS of sinusitis include a continuous discharge which can be thin and watery, or thick and mucus-like.
