Sep. 18--Following the recent National Baptist Convention in Philadelphia, the pressure is on for the city to keep booking other major national meetings that are considered coups in the burgeoning multicultural-convention industry.
"I'm not sure there used to be as strong a desire [by the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau] to be as active as we have been," said Yolanda Bullock-Cooper, sales director for special markets for the Multicultural Affairs Congress, a division of the visitors bureau.
