Sep. 19--Merrill Lynch & Co. fired a vice chairman and the firm's chief liaison with Enron on Wednesday for refusing to cooperate with an investigation into the bankrupt energy company's deals in 1999.
Vice Chairman Thomas Davis and Schuyler Tilney, managing director of investment banking, violated a Merrill Lynch policy requiring employees to answer all investigators' questions, said company spokesman Mark Herr.
Tilney, 46, who lives in River Oaks, was placed on leave in July after he refused to testify at a Senate hearing.
