The bitter experience of the World War-II left mankind to believe that a future war would be the one where there could be no winners. Yet the world witnessed an unfortunate polarisation between the Communist and non-Communist Camps. This polarisation led to the evolution of more and more sophisticated nuclear weapon systems. This resulted in a heavy defense expenditure aimed at preserving the respective ideologies and spheres of influence.
