THE problems now facing the Government, schools and universities over the A-level marking debacle are immense.
The key issue is whether thousands of A-level papers should be remarked as the Government is promising, or whether all 700,000 papers should be re-graded, as head teachers are demanding.
Remarking This means that each disputed exam paper would be given to fresh markers and scored out of 100. That could take weeks. Schools say the number of papers could run into thousands.
Heads say remarking is not only a waste of time but also misses the point.
