Congress received the long-awaited Institute for Defense Analysis (IDA) study of the tilt-rotor V-22 Osprey late Friday and Capitol Hill supporters of the novel system are already charging that the study's data supports the acquisition of the aircraft over proposed alternatives. (See Defense Daily, June 11, 13, 18, 22.)
DoD said Secretary of Defense Cheney has reviewed the report "and concluded that his decision on the V-22 remains valid. The investment cost necessary to buy it remains too high..."
