A West Yorkshire Police constable has today been convicted of common assault.
The 42-year-old police officer was convicted at Leeds magistrates' court after a three-day hearing. The court viewed an amateur video recording showing him kicking and punching a man in the street in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, in June 2001.
West Yorkshire Police voluntarily referred the incident to the independent Police Complaints Authority for a supervised investigation.
