MURDER police believed last night they were closer to catching the killer of Milly Dowler after the horrific discovery of her remains.
Dental records and X-rays yesterday confirmed that a skull and bones found in woodland 25 miles from where Milly vanished almost exactly six months ago were those of the 13-year-old.
A huge missing person inquiry was immediately reclassified as a murder investigation codenamed Operation Ashmead.
