BRITISH Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB) has inflicted another damaging blow on ITV by snatching Channel 5 supremo Dawn Airey from its grasp. Airey is to join BSkyB as managing director. She had been widely expected to become director of programmes at ITV.
The move is a blow to ITV in general and to Charles Allen, the chairman of Granada, ITVs biggest shareholder, in particular. Allen was banking on Airey to revive ITVs fortunes by breathing fresh life into its tired prime-time programme schedules.
