Sep. 22--If clothes make the man, or woman, then it follows that uniforms make the workers.
At the very least, uniforms identify them. Even a cursory trip back in time reveals that for hundreds of years -- ever since people visually segregated themselves according to profession -- uniforms have served as sign and symbol.
Uniforms, like other forms of fashion, are constantly evolving. Today's corporate apparel wearers may think of uniforms positively as a statement of company professionalism. Or negatively as a company's way of using workers to promote a line of ...
