NGSA Urges Pipeline Rate Competition

WASHINGTON - The Natural Gas Supply Association recommends changing the way pipeline rates are structured in order to inject more competition into the interstate pipeline segment.

"NGSA's pipeline rate reforms, if adopted by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, would build a highly competitive and efficient interstate pipeline system - a long sought goal of producers and consumers of natural gas," said Nicholas J. Bush, NGSA president.

"Failing to achieve comparable and competitively priced transportation service risks a return to monopoly transaction," Bush said.
