THE continued deportation of Filipinos from Sabah is both saddening and disturbing.
Saddening because the number of deportees has swelled to 28,000 Muslims and Christians who went there to eke out a living - only to be driven back to hopelessness again.
Disturbing because it has reopened the contentious Sabah claim and ownership issue which could result in a diplomatic strain between Malaysia and the Philippines.
The situation has forced the government to play two cards at the same time - with mixed feelings of concern and caution.
