Sep. 24--Thai orchid growers fear that a large-scale venture proposed by Taiwanese interests could swamp their own budding efforts to grow a lucrative variety, the phalaenopsis orchid.
The Taiwanese, in seeking Board of Investment privileges for their 33-billion-baht project, said they wanted to grow only the phalaenopsis strain on 16,000 rai taking in parts of Lop Buri and Saraburi provinces.
