INDIA: Air pollution in Indian cities is causing deformities in children and respiratory problems leading to deaths, two recent studies show.
A study by the United Nations Environment Program blames air pollution for causing respiratory problems resulting in 24,000 premature deaths in India in the past year.
In another study, a five-member team that includes two pediatricians from a Christian hospital in New Delhi, said they found a "surprising number of children with Vitamin D deficiency" in the Indian capital. The finding was first published in the British Medical Journal.
