MOST workers would rather walk over hot coals than dare ask the boss for a pay rise. But Michael Oscar plucked up the courage - and it worked.

The 30-year-old computer programmer was given a ?00 increase to ?000 a year - double the rise he asked for - as well as a new management role in the company.

He says: 'I asked my boss for a meeting and made the point that I had been working hard and wanted to get ahead.
