For years, the industrial design of analytical instruments was associated with one thing: a bulky tan-colored box. This is no longer the case. For more than a decade now, analytical instrument makers have sought to make their instruments not only perform better but look better as well.
In its ninth year, the IBO Design Awards recognizes the efforts of analytical instrument companies to improve the industrial design of analytical instruments through innovative yet functional design. While industrial design is primarily associated with the "look" or styling of an instrument, its purpose and influence is far more extensive.
