Many vehicle accidents happen in spite of the fact that they could have been prevented if the driver or drivers involved had responded quickly and properly to a hazardous situation.
If you're involved in an accident, you need to evaluate your defensive driving abilities to determine whether you took every reasonable action to prevent the accident. The responsibility to drive well goes beyond careful observation of traffic rules and regulations. To be a good defensive driver, you must drive to prevent accidents -- regardless of weather, traffic conditions, or the actions of others on the road.
