BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. -- As 127 million television viewers tune into the 34th Ryder Cup Matches in Sutton Coldfield, England this weekend, metro Detroit viewers will find special significance since the next matches played on U.S. soil will be in Bloomfield Hills.
The 35th Ryder Cup Matches will be played on the Oakland Hills Country Club's South Course in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Sept. 14-19, 2004. Since its inception in 1927, this biennial competition will be played for the first time ever in the state of Michigan -- and the first time the matches are played in the United States since 1999.
