The US Green Building Council recently released the pilot version of LEED for Commercial Interiors (LEED-CI) and will be testing it in the marketplace over the next year. I congratulate the LEED-CI Committee for providing the industry with yet another powerful transformation tool.
The idea of having an interiors-only version has been circulating around the USGBC for sometime, and some of the initial iterations had it going well past the scope of the original LEED standard. This newly released version has been significantly scaled back from those forays into ergonomics, social equity and biomimicry, but is no less a comprehensive green strategy.
