WASHINGTON, DC--The U.S. State Department released its second Trafficking in Persons (TIP) report June 5, updating its ratings of various world governments' performance in combating trafficking.
The report, whose yearly publication is mandated by the 2000 Trafficking Victims Protection Act, places countries into one of three categories, or tiers, based on how well they meet minimum standards established by the U.S. government.
Several U.S. allies, including Turkey and Saudi Arabia, are listed in the lowest category for the second year in a row. These nations, as well as Afghanistan, Greece, Russia and others, have been found to have made no efforts ...
