Most Lake County homeowners will pay less in property taxes to the county next year, according to a newly proposed annual budget.
Before you get too excited, however, you should know the savings - the result of an increase in property values across the county - amounts to only about $6 for a typical $200,000 home.
But in an economically troubled time when Americans are trying to stretch every dollar, $6 could mean an extra-large fast-food dinner, two video rentals, a paperback book or a quarter-tank of gasoline.
