UCLA vows to brake its growth to reduce traffic
Development plans prompted homeowner complaints
UCLA officials have tentatively agreed to cease all future development on the 419-acre Westwood campus if traffic exceeds 145,000 cars a day, reported Mark Horne, UCLA's assistant director of campus and environmental planning.
The university currently accounts for 126,000 cars a day.
That agreement, which Horne said would be finalized in two to three months, follows on the heels of UCLA's announcement in March that it plans to build an additional 4.5 million square feet of buildings on the campus during the next 15 years. That would be in ...
