To the Editor:
In the fall of 2001, the Social Services Committee approved spending $48,800 for the Center for Government Research to study the Department of Social Services. What we received was what the top management of Social Services wanted. It was just a high-priced pat on the back based on a superficial review of the department.
How did such a glowing report get its research done? There were no time studies. The total people spoken to amounted to about 75 people, which included in its total Social Services employees, legislators and companies we buy services from.
