Prominent female religious leaders are organizing a women's international peace-building coalition promoting peace and reconciliation in areas of conflict.
The Global Peace Initiative of Women, announced Sept. 5 at the United Nations in New York, will "claim a more active role in peace-building" by women, according to a coalition announcement. In addition to religious leaders, the coalition will include representatives from business and government.
The coalition's first major meeting will be Oct. 7 at the United Nations in Geneva, where more than 500 women are expected to formally launch the initiative. The coalition wants to draw particular attention ...
