In Surry, Maine, Wesmac launched another one of its Wesmac 50s this past July. This was the Five Ladies, a 50' x 17' 6" (16 feet at the transom) x 6' fiberglass tuna boat for Bill Payton, who will fish out of Green Harbor, Mass.
The Five Ladies will spent most of her time harpooning tuna, so there is a 25-foot bow pulpit and a 25-foot tower made from anodized aluminum pipe. Both the bow pulpit and tower were built at Wesmac. The boat also has outriggers for trolling. "When they are searching for tuna to harpoon, they can still be trolling," says Wesmac's president Steve Wessel.
