"Nice guys finish last" was the slogan of Leo Durocher, the scrappy manager of the Giants and Dodgers, who spent his life living up to his slogan.
Not always. Two of the best guys I know, Joe Melone and Ron Barbaro, just finished first in one of the most amazing life insurance company personnel changes I have encountered.
As the nes columns have reported, Joe is moving from president of the Prudential of America to president of the Equitable Society. Ron has swithced from president of the Prudential's Canadian operations to Joe Melone's old job at Newark headquarters.
