PROJECT OVERVIEW:

The local CAEMI MINERACAO E METALURGICA SA currently produces some 30 million tons per year (t/y) of iron ore. However, the company is now said to be considering the construction of a new iron ore mine. The Capao Xavier deposit in question, located in the southern state of Minas Gerais, reportedly contains an estimated 140 million metric tons of reserves.

In so doing, MINERACAO E METALURGICA is aiming to expand its production output by another 6 million t/y. At such a development rate the mine life is expected to last for 17 years. The cost to complete the project has been estimated at $84,000,000. And, operational start-up is ...
