CHESAPEAKE -- Western Branch and Hickory open Southeastern District play tonight still wondering how good their football teams are.
The Bruins lead every major statistical category and are ranked No. 1 in South Hampton Roads but haven't played a team with a winning record.
Hickory is 2-1. But the victories were against winless Denbigh and Maury, and the Hawks were outgained in both games.
Hickory coach Joey Habit thinks a 21-17 loss to No. 8 Norview is a better barometer of the Hawks' potential. A pair of controversial penalties hurt Hickory late in that game.
