CHESAPEAKE -- The first thing you noticed about Samuel Lee Carter Jr. was his smile.
The second was the gold tooth.
Sometimes his sister-in-law Elizabeth Rodriquez would put aluminum foil on her tooth and teasingly call him ``Slick Rick.''
The third might be the way he'd greet you. With a kiss on the cheek, said best buddy Michael Williams.
They first met during Operation Desert Storm while serving aboard the Yellowstone, and things just clicked. Williams had never had a guy friend that close.
