NOAA CHIEF ADMITS LANDSAT COMMERCIALIZATION HAS FAILED
The head of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) told a Senate subcommittee panel recently that the Landsat commercialization program had been a failure and that the Landsat program was unlikely to be viable comercially for the next 1-2 decades.
John Knauss, Commerce Department under secretary for oceans and atmosphere, said that was the conclusion of his department. He affirmed under questioning that his testimony had been cleared by the powerful White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
