The Senate Appropriations Committee approved legislation that would provide $10.48 million to maintain and improve Connecticut's waterways, according to Sens. Chris Dodd and Joe Lieberman. Among the funds approved are startup funds for two projects that would evaluate new technology for dredging Long Island Sound harbors and complete a planned dredging of the Norwalk harbor. Dodd and Lieberman both worked on behalf of these new multiyear projects.
"The Sound and our state's waterways are part of our state's economic and environmental lifeblood," said Dodd. "This assistance can help ensure they continue to flourish and flow, now and in the future."
