Merchants tap congressman to stop Metro Rail
In another hurdle for Metro Rail, a group of Hollywood merchants and activists are urging a Los Angeles congressman to block subway construction under Hollywood Boulevard, even as the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission begins seeking bids on the Metro Rail's second leg.
LACTC officials say the first heavy construction contract for Metro Rail's $1.44 billion second leg could be awarded as soon as December, with 10 other multimillion-dollar contracts handed out in the next few years.
