The image shows the man just weeks before his death. He looks plenty healthy, that same glint of mystery in his eye, so much character in his face.
But Ken Kesey died only a month after Brian Lanker shot some of the final photographs of the local legend last October on Kesey's farm in Pleasant Hill.
It's now possible to purchase a poster of one of those images for $25 at bookstores around town and help pay for a bronze statue of Kesey reading to three children. Lanker and the rest of the Ken Kesey Memorial Fund Committee hope to raise $110,000 to pay for the sculpture by Pleasant Hill's Pete Helzer, a ...
