Oct. 3--One manager was explaining the flexibility her firm offers to working parents. Some new mothers have taken off several months' work to care for their children.
"But they don't come back," grumbled her male associate.
The first manager retorted that women who are given extended leave do return -- and are forever loyal to the company.
Companies that make the "best places to work" lists adopt an attitude of flexibility: Whatever works best for the parent can ultimately work out best for the company.
