Oct. 4--In late April, a little film called My Big Fat Greek Wedding opened on 108 screens nationwide. It received modest to negative reviews - which usually have a bigger impact on small movies than big ones - and appeared likely to vanish after a couple of weeks among the flotsam and jetsam of the independent film world. In its opening weekend, My Big Fat Greek Wedding grossed about $600,000.
But audiences seemed to enjoy it, and they started coming back. And telling friends. And coming back with friends, and their friends' mothers. The grosses climbed, hitting $1 ...
