There are some compensations for the return of cooler weather to the area: better clothes, less humidity and, probably best of all, baking. For those who find consolation in having something warm from the oven (and who doesn't?), the appliance goes on the moment the temperature dips.
A corollary is that breakfasts, especially on weekends, can be more substantial. This is the season when the first meal of the day once again becomes a social occasion. You probably don't have company for brunch in July, but come October, it's the perfect way to entertain casually.
