L.A. law heads for East Berlin as lawyer sets up outpost behind fallen Iron Curtain
One of the first L.A. lawyers to cast his eyes eastward toward the tumult of the East Bloc was Carl Andres, a Los Angeles partner at Baker & McKenzie.
The office marks the first outpost of any American law firm in East Berlin, and it is Baker & McKenzie's third office behind the now crumbled Iron Curtain, Andres says. The-1,500-attorney law firm with 49 offices in 29 countries already had satellite offices in Budapest and Moscow.
