The following list shows the names, symbols, and equivalence of the more common quantities allowed in the SI metric system. The prefixes and symbols for the more common multiple units are also shown. Neither list is complete. Full details are given by F. S. Conant, Polym. Eng. Sci., 17, 222 (1977). A table of the more frequently needed conversion factors required to use the SI system is also shown. This journal prefers that SI metric units be employed in manuscripts submitted for publication.
